Adults Don’t Play!
During this year’s 3 Days of Design festival in Copenhagen, +Halle once again dared to be different, launching several new exciting collections. One of the most shared and photographed was a unique piece of furniture by Danish creatives Spacon and X. The product is called A.D.P. - or Adults Don’t Play.
A.D.P. Bench
The majority of +Halle’s furniture designs are borne of a collaborative dialogue between creatives, psychologists, anthropologists and other invited experts. This process is called the Annual Briefing. During the Annual Briefing process, +Halle defines a theme - in this case “play”- and the objective is to develop furniture that responds to this theme, along with the changing metabolism of modern spaces and human behaviour. This creative process involves a wide range of participants and often results in radically different styles of furniture design. ADP is no exception.
ADP Bench
Taking inspiration from a piano stool, human psychological triggers and the undeniable need to adjust or correct things that aren’t quite straight - plus the desire to connect people in a social, playful way, ADP offers something unique and brave. Nobody can resist to spin the seat (or is it a table?), which in turn adjusts the height. The connecting underframe ensures people using ADP have a close connection, removing barriers and promoting social contact.
A.D.P. Bench
The result is a fun piece of furniture for collaboration, waiting, education and gallery spaces. Is it a seat or a table? Why choose when it can be both. In our busy work lives we often forget to take a break and reset.
With the A.D.P. bench we’re reminded… TO PLAY!
